In 2015, the first day tour to one of the soup kitchens of To Be A Child, took place in cooperation with RESPONSible Travel Peru. Lién, from Germany, was the first to go on this day tour and visited soup kitchen 'The Happiness' (Spanish: Nos Da Alegria). Project coordinator Clarita, who is in charge of this project, led the tour.

Lién shared the following about her experiences in soup kitchen 'The Happiness':

"I was backpacking in Peru for 2 months and since I like to get to know not only touristic places but also the real life of a country, I was looking for possibilities to join Peruvians in their everyday life. At the end of August I was offered the chance to spend a morning in the soup kitchen of a school in Huaraz, which is run by Foundation To Be A Child (Stichting Wees Kind). The women organizing and preparing the lunch for several school kids in different ages were super nice and welcoming.

They included me in their daily work and told me everything I wanted to know about the organisation, their work and the kids. The kids were really interested and excited about me being with them and were happy to spend some more time after lunch with playing and doing some activities we had prepared for them. I really enjoyed my time at this soup kitchen!"

The day tour is a great way to share experiences and realities, as much for the visitors, as for the local team of To Be A Child (Stichting Wees Kind) and the children of the soup kitchens. Besides sharing her experiences, Lién also shared the beautiful pictures she took that day!

Thank you for your visit, Lién, and for sharing your experiences and photos with us! Also big thank you to RESPONSible Travel Peru for the initiative for this great tour and supporting our projects in this way!
